Ranchi: In support of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a Single-Use Plastic-Free India, the Sharda Foundation launched a public awareness campaign against single-use plastic on Saturday at the vegetable market near CMPDI, Kanke Road, Ranchi.
As part of the initiative, Foundation members encouraged citizens and vegetable vendors to stop using plastic carry bags and instead adopt eco-friendly alternatives such as cloth, jute, and paper bags. Reusable cloth and jute bags were distributed free of cost to shoppers and vendors to promote sustainable habits and reduce plastic pollution.
During the awareness drive, volunteers educated the public about the harmful impact of single-use plastic on the environment, wildlife, and public health. They appealed to everyone to take a pledge to eliminate plastic bags from their daily lives and actively support the nationwide movement for a cleaner and greener India.
The Foundation emphasized that replacing plastic with environmentally friendly alternatives is a collective responsibility and an important step towards protecting nature for future generations. Participants also pledged to spread awareness in their communities and encourage others to adopt eco-friendly practices.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, market vendors, and volunteers, reflecting a shared commitment to environmental conservation and responsible citizenship.
Among those present were Rajeev Ranjan, Ashutosh Dwivedi, Ajay Kumar, Ramesh Kumar, several members of the Sharda Foundation, local vegetable vendors, and members of the public. The information was shared by Aman, who highlighted the Foundation’s continued commitment to social welfare and environmental awareness through meaningful community initiatives.
