Ranchi: Marking the auspicious occasion of Navratri, the Sharda Foundation organized a sanitary pad distribution drive for hundreds of rural women on Kanke Road, Ranchi. The initiative was aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene, women’s health, and public awareness during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recognizing women as the embodiment of Goddess Durga, the Foundation used the festive occasion to encourage women to prioritize their health, adopt hygienic practices, and take a pledge to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19. Participants were also sensitized about the importance of following safety measures, including wearing masks, maintaining personal hygiene, and adhering to government health advisories.
During the awareness campaign, women were informed about the guidelines issued by both the Central Government and the Government of Jharkhand to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Foundation emphasized that community participation and responsible behavior are essential in overcoming public health challenges.
Social workers Rajeev Ranjan and Ashutosh Dwivedi distributed sanitary napkins among the women and highlighted the importance of menstrual hygiene in ensuring the overall health and dignity of women, especially in rural communities.
The programme was attended by Shashi Prasad, Anil Kumar, members of the Sharda Foundation, and a large number of women from the surrounding villages. Through this initiative, the Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to women’s empowerment, health awareness, and community welfare.
